Kaminda Lagun 80
Country cottage - small ‘farm’
Are you looking for some historic charm paired to the feel of a small farm? An old soul? A home with a heart? Although close to the (dead end) road, the feel of this house is one of “in the middle of nature”, lots of outdoor space, and that of a small farm. If average or mainstream is not specifically important to you (because it is none of those!), please be invited to Kaminda Lagun 80.
Landmark – “cas cora”
This main body of the house was built some 60 (or even more) years ago, when Kaminda Lagun still was a dirt road, leading ‘nowhere’. The house always has been and still is painted red. That is why the entire area is called “cas cora” (red house).
Kaminda Lagun still is a dead end road (to Lagun Bay). Nowadays it is a paved road, with connections to all utilities, resulting in a nice mix of “living in the outback”, but with all comforts of today and only 7 minutes drive to the centre of town.
Although the house is situated close to the road, it really is very quiet inside (let alone on the porch!).
House & land
The property consists of 2 connected parcels of land plus a large parcel of “huurgrond” (rented land).
2-3 bedrooms / 1 bathroom
The home (2 bedrooms, 1 study, 1 bathroom, large covered porch) sits on one parcel.
All floors are covered with authentic Antillean colored tiles, although in the living room they are “hidden” under a driftwood-colored laminate floor. The whole house is fitted with solid tropical hardwood full shutter/blade windows and doors.
The bathroom has been beautifully remodeled (2016) and is fitted with a large rain-shower, a hanging toilet and two Belgium stone sinks. The kitchen is relatively small, but well designed, featuring a 6 burner stove, double door fridge/freezer and dishwasher.
The living room is ‘nice to have’, yet the covered porch is the main “living room”! Outdoor living at its best!
In the garden you will find some beautiful shady trees, flowering cacti, an above-ground pool, outdoor shower, an open fireplace and different seating areas.
Orchard with fruit trees
The other parcel features a true orchard! It holds different kinds of fruit trees, such as medlar (mispel), sorsaka (zuurzak), tamarinde, mango, kenepa, moringa, chimaruku and lime (lamoenchi). Here you also find the concrete storage room; completely wired with 110V, 220V and water. It also functions as laundry and pool pump room.
Large parcel of “huurgrond” (rented land)
This large parcel of land (1.4 ha / 3.5 acres) is completely fenced in with a living cacti fence. It has been fenced in for over 20 years now and that shows! The vegetation is much more mature and divers than in unfenced areas. It attracts a variety of birds too. You also find a lot of Aloe Vera.
A driveway from roadside leads to a workshop, consisting of a concrete floor measuring 9 x 7 meters and a 20 ft. container as additional storage space, all covered with a roof.
There is also a greenhouse and/or chicken coop.
“Huurgrond” can be used by a buyer, but can’t be owned; it will remain property of the government.
